De Poort would not be possible without the on-going support we get from the municipalities, the Lotto, social responsibility sponsorships, trusts, well-wishers ( local and overseas), local businesses, community organisations, families and volunteers - we call them Friends of De Poort:

People have given their time and contributed their skills voluntarily. To date most of the work has been research, planning, consultation and fundraising. As the project takes off there are many other things that need to be done - from restoring artefacts to tending the organic vegetable garden.

We are now calling for sponsors and donations for the equipment and services we need for the heritage centre. We will soon begin training crafters and volunteers too.

Like the famous District 6 museum, we encourage people to bring and donate artefacts linked to the themes at De Poort - old photographs, tools and handicrafts to help bring the past to life. All donations are recorded and will be incorporated in our living museum - a wonderful way to celebrate the heritage of our people! Together they help tell the the story of the era of the wagon and cart manufacturers. Add your family's name to our map of where the factory owners and crafters had their premises. Become part of our goal to restore these transport industry pioneers to their rightful place in the history of our country.

All donations will be recorded and incorporated into our living museum - a wonderful way to celebrate the heritage of our people!

If you can help in any way please register your interest.

We look forward to welcoming you aboard!
